Festive Food Drive

Hume Bank is loading up their shopping baskets to collect much needed food donations for FoodShare and are calling on their customers and the community to join them in supporting the cause this festive season.

Running until Christmas Eve, select Hume Bank branches will act as collection points for the donated goods which will be distributed through our programs.

Working to eliminate food insecurity in our region, FoodShare support just some of the 2,223 individuals requiring food assistance in our region each day from Corryong to Culcairn, Wangaratta, Corowa and everywhere in between.

“The past year has seen significant growth and change for FoodShare with the opening of our Community Pantry, which has grown to service up to 20 individuals and families each day,” said Katrina Pawley, CEO, Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare. “Donations received through the Festive Food Drive will allow us to supplement the donations we receive each week to support even more in our community.”

Hume Bank branches will also be collecting monetary donations, which will be used to purchase perishable food items, such as fresh fruit and vegetables and meat.

A big thank you to Border Trust and Hume Bank who have so far collected 220kg of non perishable food which will be shared across our community. The Festive Food Drive will run until Christmas Eve and hope to reach a target of 1000kg in donations.

The Festive Food Drive is an extension of the Hume Bank volunteering partnership with FoodShare which sees Hume Bank staff volunteer with them each month. Hume Bank staff will also be contributing donations to the Festive Food Drive.

“Our staff have spent time volunteering at FoodShare and have come to know the reach of the work they do and the growing need for their service within our community“ said Stephen Capello, CEO, Hume Bank. “All year, but in particular this festive season, we are asking our customers and our community to support each other by helping those doing it a little tough to have nutritious food on their table
