Congratulations FoodShare Volunteers

Our team has been awarded the Wodonga Volunteer Award and the Two Cities One Community Volunteer Award at the Wodonga Council Volunteer Awards, which were presented last night during National Volunteer Week.

These awards recognise excellence in voluntary service and show appreciation for the quality and depth of voluntary service to the community.

The presentation was held at The Cube Wodonga and FoodShare’s CEO Katrina Pawley accepted the awards on behalf of FoodShare’s volunteers.

“Across our region, the need for food assistance continues to grow and FoodShare’s volunteers are great advocates and incredibly dedicated to supporting their local community. We are so thankful for all that they do, and this is a well-deserved award for their generosity” said Katrina.

This year the focus for National Volunteer week has been 'Something for Everyone' which has been an invitation to recognise the diversity of passions and talents that our volunteers bring to FoodShare. From driving vans to sorting donations and providing admin support as well as packing hampers and helping members of our community to get the food and essential supplies they need – there is something for all volunteers at FoodShare.

Not all heroes wear capes. Congratulations Michael McInerney who was the recipient of the Bryan Watson Wodonga Individual of the Year Award for his contribution to Wodonga Men's Shed.

Congratulations to all the other volunteers who were nominated for their care and compassion and to every person in our community who volunteers - thank you!

National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and highlights the important role of volunteers in our community.

This year the focus is 'Something for Everyone' which is an invitation to explore the myriad of volunteer opportunities available while recognising the diverse passions and talents everyone brings to the act of volunteering.

All week we are celebrating our amazing FoodShare volunteers! Over 200 strong, FoodShare's volunteers keep thriving by driving vans, sorting donations, managing admin and orders, packing hampers, and helping our community to get the food and essential supplies they need.

They are the heart and soul of FoodShare. We are so thankful for all that they do!
