Our Programs
We are growing a number of programs to assist distribution of food to those in need, to increase the awareness and understanding of food security issues and to engage and empower people with employment skills.
School Breakfast Program
We coordinate the regional school breakfast program by providing food to schools, child care centres and tertiary institutions for breakfast and other meals for students in need.
Please contact us if you would like your school/centre to be involved OR if you would like to help us with this program.
Senior School Engagement Program
What better way to increase understanding and gain perspective about poverty and food security than to volunteer in our operation as part of your secondary school studies! That’s what some of our local secondary school students are doing and it’s proving to be a very powerful tool.
Youth At Risk Program
We have VCAL students and young offenders volunteer in our operation on a weekly basis. This is a real highlight for us as we see these young people learn valuable skills and have fun engaging in meaningful work.
Workplace Volunteer Program
We have a number of local businesses who support their staff to kindly volunteer the time and services for AWRFS. They do everything from administrative support to sorting food and delivering food in our van.
“Volunteering at Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare was a lot of fun and so different to what I do every other day of the year. The task was pretty simple – I packed food boxes and delivered them to the agencies to give out, but the experience of helping those in need in my community and the insights from my conversations with the AWRFS team were priceless. Everyone should have a go.”
