Our Poverty Statistics
14% Australians live in poverty with 1 in 10 requiring food assistance.
According to the National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling, in our region there are 22,230 people which includes 4,942 children (0-14 years) living in poverty. This is defined by those with a household income of less than $368 per week.
In our region on any given day at least 2,223 require food assistance.
