Wills and Bequests
FoodShare’s work is only made possible by the generosity of our supporters. A bequest in your Will, no matter how big or small, is a lasting legacy of kindness that ensures FoodShare will always be there for those in our community who are struggling to put food on the table.
Thank you for considering a gift in your Will to support our local region.
Why bequests matter
According to research by Fundraising Initiative Australia, at least a third of Australians are considering leaving a gift in their Will but have not yet included it. As well as being good for the charitable organisations like FoodShare, leaving a charitable bequest can be better financially for those inclined to give. Many people do not have the means to leave a significant gift to charity during their lifetime. A gift in a Will can be made after financial commitments, funeral arrangements and loved ones have been looked after and can enable donors to leave a lasting legacy.
A gift in your will – no matter how big or small – ensures that FoodShare will always be there for those in our community who are struggling with the daily challenges of putting food on the table, or to help with our many programs,
Like ripples in a pond, extending far and wide, when you leave a gift to FoodShare in your Will, your decision can touch more lives than you could ever imagine. Your gift will serve to honour your memory, carry on the beliefs and values you hold so precious and give lasting hope for future generations.
By leaving a gift in your Will to FoodShare, you will be joining a group of like-minded individuals who, like yourself, are committed to ensuring that the kindness and compassion you have lived by, will go on helping others now and in the future.
Please let us know when you decide to include FoodShare in your Will, so we can honour your kindness and generosity.
What wording should I include in my Will?
I give the sum of $………….. (or …………..% of my residuary estate) to Albury Wodonga FoodShare ABN 89 154 710 586 of 1/10 Stead Street, Wodonga Victoria for the specific charitable purpose of the organisation. I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer of Albury Wodonga FoodShare shall be full and sufficient discharge to my Executors.
This wording can be modified to reflect your wishes by inserting a specific program or purpose provided by FoodShare to benefit. It is important to include the full legal name Albury Wodonga FoodShare and ABN 89 154710 586.
Do I need to leave a large amount to charity in my Will?
No, a charitable gift can be for any amount, large or small, or can be a percentage of your estate or whatever is left after all other commitments have been taken care of.
How do I decide what to give?
If you would like to include a gift to FoodShare in your Will to care for future generations, thank you. Here are some options:
- A percentage of your estate. You can leave FoodShare your entire estate or any percentage of your estate.
- The remainder of your estate. After you have taken care of loved ones, you can leave us the whole or part of what remains of your estate.
- A specific gift in your will. You can give a specific amount of money or items such as shares or property. This does not, however, allow for changes in your circumstances or inflation.
Leaving a gift to FoodShare in your Will is a very special way you can keep on caring for people in our community into the future.
Can you recommend a solicitor so I can organise my Will?
FoodShare cannot recommend a specific local solicitor.
However you can use our helpful Find a Solicitor search tool to Find a Professional Advisor near you, or contact the relevant Law Society in your state or territory and ask for a referral.
How will my gift be used?
Your gift can be specified to be used to fund a specific program in two ways:
- Wording in your Will can be modified to reflect your wishes by inserting a specific program or purpose provided by FoodShare to benefit.
or - By contacting our CEO prior to drafting your Will or leaving instructions, your specific wishes can be recorded by us to be used to fund a specific program or initiative.
