Grow a Row

Grow a little extra and help share fresh, healthy food with people across our community.

Taking part in Grow a Row is easy. Simply plant an extra row of your favourite vegetables, fruit or herbs in your backyard, school or community garden.

When it’s time to harvest, donate some of what you’ve grown to FoodShare, where it can be shared with local people and families.

What to Grow

We welcome a wide range of fresh, homegrown produce. If you’re wondering what to plant, these are some of the vegetables that are particularly useful:

  • Pumpkins
  • Potatoes
  • Carrots
  • Tomatoes
  • Zucchini
  • Cucumbers
  • Capsicums
  • Green beans
  • Sweet Peas
  • Onions
  • Beetroot
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Cabbage
  • Lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Silverbeet
  • Kale
  • Corn
  • Leeks
  • Celery
  • Radishes
  • Turnips
  • Spring onions
  • Garlic

Grow a Row is even better together. Encourage your neighbours, friends, family, school, workplace or community group to get growing too.

No room to grow at home?

You can still get involved, donate any produce you have to spare, or volunteer in FoodShare’s community garden at Wodonga TAFE and help us grow fresh produce for our community.

Where to Donate

Once your produce is ready to harvest, you can drop it off at either of our Wodonga locations:

FoodShare Warehouse
1/10 Stead Street, Wodonga, weekdays, 8am–12pm

Community Pantry
81 Wigg Street, Wodonga, weekdays, 9:30am–2pm

Freshly picked is best. If possible, harvest your produce shortly before donating so we can share it with our community at its freshest.
