FoodShare is pleased to announce it has received a $10,000 grant from Border Trust and ACE Radio 2AY with Handbury Foundation, adding to the $5,000 grant received earlier this year from the Tobin Brothers Foundation.

The combined funding will support the installation of additional solar panels at FoodShare’s warehouse, helping to reduce operating costs and strengthen the organisation’s long-term sustainability. By lowering energy expenses, FoodShare can redirect more resources into its Community Pantry and food relief programs, ensuring local families continue to receive support during challenging times.

FoodShare gratefully acknowledges Border Trust, ACE Radio 2AY, Handbury Foundation and the Tobin Brothers Foundation for their valuable contributions toward improving energy efficiency and building a stronger future for the communities we serve.

Importantly, the benefits of this investment extend beyond FoodShare’s local operations. Through FoodShare’s Virtual Energy Network, surplus renewable energy generated by the new solar installation is shared with Corryong FoodShare, helping reduce their operational costs as well. These savings can then be reinvested directly into community support programs and food relief initiatives in the Upper Murray region.

In addition to supporting FoodShare’s sustainability goals, Border Trust and the Towong Community Bushfire Disaster Relief Fund have provided funding to strengthen food relief services in the Corryong community. With total funding of $54,500, the initiative is helping improve access to essential food and household supplies for vulnerable residents while supporting long-term regional resilience.

Towong Shire residents continue to face the lasting impacts of the devastating 2019/20 bushfires, ongoing cost-of-living pressures, and more recently, the Walwa and Corryong bushfires in January 2026. This funding is helping ensure that local people experiencing hardship can access the support they need when they need it most.

Through FoodShare’s strong partnership with Corryong FoodShare, these investments are delivering both immediate relief and lasting benefits for the community. By combining practical support with sustainable infrastructure, the funding is helping build stronger, more resilient communities across the region.

FoodShare would like to thank all the funding partners and supporters whose generosity continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families.
