FoodShare is grateful for funding received from Charles Sturt University as part of their Community University Partnerships (CUP) Grant Program.
The $1,000 grant will be used to purchase additional food items for FoodShare’s food hampers, which are being provided to members of the community, particularly to families who require emergency food relief.
The level of need for FoodShare’s services dramatically increased with the bushfire crisis and increased again with impact of COVID-19 on households. This increase in demand for our services has continued for bushfire effected communities as well as for people impacted by COVID-19, with a significant number of families experiencing financial hardship for the first time.
To meet the increased needs of the community, FoodShare established a Community Pantry program to provide food hampers directly to members of the community and with the assistance of community donations and grant funding, FoodShare has been able to continue to include a variety of pantry staples, household items and most importantly fresh fruit and vegetables in the food hampers.
