More than $170,000 was handed out to 19 charitable groups at the annual The Big Give by Border Trust on Thursday 30 May.
Of the $174,500 one of the biggest recipients was Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare who received $17,000 to help with the purchase and running of a refrigerated food van.
Border Trust chair Michael Salter said The Big Give is the main event of the organisation's year.
"Announcing our successful recipients is, without a doubt, the highlight of our year," he said.
"We are 100 per cent local - our donors and recipients all live and work in our region and choose to give back to their community through Border Trust.
"And the money we present to recipients we can see going back into the local community and the kitchen out the front of the hotel is one example of a great initiative in action.
"The Big Give is the culmination of the hard work and contributions from many and is a wonderful example of what can collectively be achieved."
Areas of local need that benefited from this year's allocation include mental health and well being, disadvantage, youth leadership, prevention of violence against women initiatives and sustainability.
