FoodShare was delighted to welcome the Governor of Victoria, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, on Thursday 13 August for a special visit to see firsthand the impact of our work across the region.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the incredible contribution of our volunteers and the vital role FoodShare plays in rescuing and distributing food to support people and communities experiencing food insecurity.

During the visit, we also shared our vision for the future, including plans for a new purpose-built FoodShare facility. This important piece of regional infrastructure will significantly expand our capacity to rescue, store and distribute more food, while strengthening our ability to respond when our community needs us most.

The new facility will also enhance FoodShare’s emergency response capability and create new opportunities to work alongside local organisations, volunteers and supporters to meet the changing needs of our region.

At the heart of FoodShare is a community that comes together to make a difference. From our dedicated volunteers to our donors, partners and supporters, that generosity makes it possible for us to continue getting good food to people who need it.

We thank the Governor for taking the time to visit FoodShare, meet our volunteers and learn more about our impact, our plans for the future and the extraordinary generosity of the community behind our work.
